"amplified" giveaway

By Robbie on August 14, 2009

Because of a miscommunication, I got a box full of Amplifieds in the mail. That's the paperback book anthologizing the attempted fiction of about 20 of us off-brand country music weirdoes. My story is about a comic novelist, middle-aged and coming apart, who visits New York City on a book tour and makes a jackass of himself. I don't think it's very good, but I know some of the other stories in the book are, and if you're the kind of person who likes the records of Rhett Miller, Jon Langford, Mary Gauthier, David Olney, and the Handsome Family lady, all of whom contribute stories, you would probably welcome this into your collection. Because I am stuck with this big surplus trove (I know it sounds like a bullshit pitch, but it's true), I will be happy to enclose a 100% free copy with an order for any two items purchased from my online store. Just click on the store, buy a 50-vc Doberman and a shirt (for instance) and jot me a line in the "special instructions" field of the purchase form: "Send the book, bitch!" (for instance). What a deal.

I overpaid for it at the Bluebird show already. A friend who drove up from Jackson and had never heard of any of the folks playing described that show as "therapeutic."

Maria McKee's story was pretty interesting, and David Olney's story reminded me a little of Cormac McCarthy's early stories even aside from the Knoxville-area settings.

I'd buy two items but I already have everything of yours, other than the Secret Country shirt! I'd buy that but it will be too big for me - the small Countrier than Thou billows on me :(

Send me the book anyway, bitch!
