friendly reminder

By Robbie on October 26, 2011

Look for me the next few days at: the Cactus in Austin (Thursday), Mucky Duck in Houston (Friday), the Red Dragon in Baton Rouge (Saturday), and Moonlight on the Mountain in Birmingham (Sunday). The first two places are places I love to play and have been hillbilly-haunting for a good 15 years now. The other two seem worth a shot. Nothing's worth it if no one comes, though. Come! Bring your infant children.

After that I'll be footloose in Tuscaloosa a few days, poking around the wreckage and seeing how that noble town is doing. Talk later...

Just saw you at the Birmingham show. It was great. Bought "Happy" and got you to sign it. Just wanted you to know that the wife and I have waited 10 years to see you perform again and that we truly enjoyed it.
I have been a fan ever since that show in Dallas in 2001. I know it's out of the way,but we'd love to see you down here more often. Keep up the good work, and we look forward to your next album!

    Sincerely,
    Cason and Mary Ellen Butterworth

    Robbie,
To answer your question you asked tonight as to why my brother and I aren't married, I think he falls in love to easily. I was indoctrinated with the idea that God has a preordained plan for all of us; that he guides our ship and we're merely passengers. Pretty standard stuff for someone with an early education in the Presbyterian tradition. My best friend and I used to always be obsessed with the idea of missing our one true love and I remember becoming physically ill at the thought. Eternity and God's will was some deep shit for ten year olds to be concerned with. But, maybe it had an impact; I think I'm a more emotionally in-tuned person. I've cherished relationships with family members, but maybe also haven't been willing to get close to many other people. Quite a pickle for a thirty year old to be having.

Not some bullshit answer about obsessed with music that he told you. At least not for me.

If you need a break from the nephews while you're in T-Town, and want to get a feel for rural Alabama, I help manage a hotel that you'll pass/ passed by on the way down I-20. I'd be glad to get you a good rate. You have my email address from the submission box.

Thanks again for a great show. Next time, "Doin' Right" okay?

She's not an infant but I did bring my daughter to your Baton Rouge show. We both thoroughly enjoyed it! Knowing from your blogs how you feel about the pointlessness of fan-artist verbal exchanges I was a little apprehensive about approaching you afterwards but my daughter wanted to meet you so thanks for being nice.

I just saw that I missed your show in Baton Rouge, dammit! It's nothing to drive further than 50 miles to see a good concert, so how about you extend the notification range for your mailing list to 100 miles or so. I could have brought all kinds of new fans with me to see you play! Come back down soon. Maybe the Jazz and Heritage festival, or at the very least, Chickie Wah Wah's here in New Orleans.
    Thanks.
