time for some freshening
This site has been online since February 2009, and I've never updated anything but the tour dates (and those a little amateurishly, I know) and this front-page squib. Today I started to undertake fixing that, deleting some expired links and adding new links, to sites I like and reviews of my work that have appeared since early '09. I had intended to add some new friends' sites to that list, on the "More" page, but I ran short on time; hope to get to that in the next week or so.
Random hosannas: the best novel I've read so far this year is Appointment in Samarra by John O'Hara. Karen Russell is another writer I was happy to find. Finally, Tom Paley is still living and still rocks on stringed instruments! Bye!

Huh....John Simon. I assumed he was dead. I always enjoyed his movie reviews in the National Review in spite of, or more likely because of, how he seemed to pan everything.
My favorite new blog: http://mariobatalivoice.blogspot.com/ Albini cooks dinner.
Thanks for the John Simon link! 86 years old, and the man's still as sharp as a tack.
While you're at it you should shitcan that whole message board. Place is depressing!
Depressing?
How's that?
If you think so, come on over and cheer us up!
Some folks find the message board useful to keep track of Robbie and our fellow Robbiemaniacs. We have even become friends. It's not as wild as the Old Board, fewer real psychos, but that's OK with me.
It's especially nice for those of us who have not fallen under the evil spell of Facebook...
I lived a couple of doors down from Sir Robbie's most wonderful parents...until they ran off to Mexico. Today I finally got to see their work. Count me in a Robbiemaniac too.
Hey Tom,
I found this really awful depressing message board on the internet. My cursor goes there all by itself, opens the page up and forces me to read it! ;-)
