this is it!

By Robbie on December 29, 2010

Two months of writing, a week of costume and set making, and three days of group rehearsal come to nutty fruition with tonight's end-of-2010 show at Fitzgerald's. Playing Rod Blagojevich and a few other characters is Joe Dempsey, and as I ran dialogues with him at my house last night, I started to feel like a suddenly competent actor -- just one of the sweet (if mostly illusory) dividends of working with a stage comedy vet. Nice to see things that are conceivably funny on the page become full-bloodedly hilarious, when voiced by Dempsey, and to see irritatingly creaky exposition become a smoothly quick little shuttle ride between jokes. Gerald and K.C. in their Kansas preacher wigs are a riot too, but I won't give the whole shop away. (Award for lamest-yet-most-offensive pun from the rehearsal goes to...me, for dubbing midgets "children of a lesser wad." That's one you won't see in Time Out!) As I said before, advance ticket sales are robust, so much that I hesitate to sound too clarion a call lest folks make the drive only to be turned away at the door. All's I'm saying is, it's looking like some high-octane fun, and there are 50 or 60 spots left, so maybe it's worth the gamble. If I don't see you tonight, keep checking in here and I'll keep flacking my crafts and shooting off my mouth.

    "children of a lesser wad"

That was worth a good, hearty chuckle.

But I hope you realize that you are now going to Hell.

Any chance at purchasing a dvd of this?
