this monday at the hideout
Beau Sample and me. Banjo-bass and guitar-bass duets. Beau is one of those rare guys who knows the entire Slim and Slam catalog by heart and yet is not a drooling, antisocial freak. If you don't know much about that kind of music (small-group swing, or pre-1950s rock-and-roll, whichever you'd call it) you could drop dozens of dollars on itunes and broaden yourself...or come see our show, for only a sawbuck. See? "Sawbuck" -- I'm already talking like one of those drooling fantasyland guys -- it's that delightful. The handsome bassist/singer and I will also play tunes he and I wrote, and touch on Merle Haggard and some others. Please drop by if failing to would gnaw at your soul.

Robbie, just checked in to see what was happening at The Hide Out and was thrilled to see you are playing there on Mondays. Do you remember the first time you played there for an AIDS ride fundraiser? Both Diane Griewe and I were big fans back in Chicago/Old Town days, and we still are. The music is still fabulous! No Carolina moons in Chicago, but it's a wonderful home town. And when you're any where near St. Paul, Minnesota or upstate New York, we'll be looking for you. All the best, Anne Q.
Hey now, there would be precious little to see or buy at record fairs if not for the drooling antisocial freaks who beetle around the towns collecing and cataloging. Come to think of it model train villages and traffic theory would suffer as well. Remember, no one ever got e. coli from assburgers (though many were bored to death).
I'll be the one who won't be shouting out requests for "Groove Juice Special". But I would if I was there. And it will gnaw at my soul to not be there.
